Allow us to introduce ourselves...
The two of us have been around each other for a long time -- so long that we have no memories of a time without the other one around. We’ve gone through a lot of phases in our lives -- like the time that Sarah was super into the boy band O-Town, or the time that Hannah believed that she could sing the part of Maria in West Side Story and shrieked all the song until ears all over the block started to bleed. We’ve lived in the same house, then across the street, then across the block, then across town, and now we’re both all the way across the country from where we grew up, but still only a 20 minute G train ride apart.
Throughout all the phases, and all the moving, two things always stayed constant -- Sarah was the cook and Hannah made the playlists. All the parties, Sarah brought the food and Hannah the mood. Our passions naturally evolved into careers -- Sarah’s since gone from cooking the best mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving to graduating from the Culinary Institute of America and working as a freelance food stylist and recipe tester and writing for such publications as USA Today, Saveur, Schar and many more. Hannah’s gone from quietly taking over the music at parties to becoming the Co-Editorial Director of the music site ‘The Wild Honey Pie’ and working at the indie record label Communion Records. At Thanksgiving, Sarah still brings the best mashed potatoes while Hannah plugs in her custom curated “Rock Around the Turkey” mix -- so really, not that much has changed.
The two of us have been together, and been starting things together, our whole lives. We’ve had lemonade stands, dog sitting/plant watering businesses and the worlds best water balloon fights -- so when around the table in Sarah’s cozy Queens kitchen the idea was hatched to start a blog, it seemed like the perfect idea. Not that we ever needed a reason to hang out, eat and listen to music -- we’ve been doing it our entire lives, but now we can have everyone else in on the party.
Supper + Song will combine the two things we love to do the most -- cook and listen to music (or in Hannah’s case, eat and listen to music). We’ll combine Sarah’s recipes with Hannah’s playlists for the perfect, all encompassing meal. Because the perfect dinner party has to have good food, good music and of course, good company.
